Tanzania Trip Report – Jill Romano March 2017 ( Northern Circuit)
BA Dulles to London/LHR to Nairobi
BA Lounge at Dulles – get there early as it fills up quickly. Buffet as well as option to use their dining room, with self service.
BA very strict at Heathrow re carry on allowances in all cabins and we had to repack and check one bag each ( took small roll aboard and duffle each which was no problem from SF to IAD or to LHR) Inflight, good service, food average.
Arrival Nairobi, meet by A&K Guardian Angel. Although not staying in Kenya we did obtain e-visas, just in case. Most pax had printed out a copy, we had a copy on our phones which was fine. Arrived at 845pm, connecting flight at 1020pm, and we had to nearly run for the flight, changing terminals in the rain after collecting our bags.…
Thanks Jill for doing all of this! Memories were rekindled!! Such a wonderful view of Scotland, we were so lucky with the weather too.
For me the BIG surprise was Torridon Hotel - it grew on you, had lots of outdoor activities to do or not (if you just sat in the "drawing room" and looked at the water and mountain in front of you, that was enough). Be sure if you have tall clients, they don't get the top floor room, Andre had to duck to get into the bathroom.
Absolutely loved Culloden House and the staff. I had one of the smaller single rooms which I would not recommend for our clients, but it was sufficient and
comfortable. In case you all forgot what Stephen"s favorite single malt brand was, GLENALLACHIE, 15 year (or 18 yr), I bought a bottle and must confess to having a "wee dram" now and then! It is really good.
I was in Edinburgh with a few of my fellow Andavo associates several months ago, and didn't get to revisit the Balmoral. It was a real treat to stay there this time - the rooms are very spacious, nicely redone and the public rooms have the old world elegance that is fun to experience.
